DVC camp

Hi guys! I am blogging today because i have experienced a very good 3rd week of my holiday! I went to a camp called ' Discovery Vacation Camp. ' Want to know more, continue reading! And I cant rmb the food that I had, so i'll leave that out. And there was two leaders, Johanna and Silin. And of course, Ms. Fauziah and her friend Mr. Shafue, teaching A-9.

Day 1, introduction day.

I woke up at 8 am, watched a little TV and ate my breakfast. When i was done, at 8.45 am, we set off for RGPS, Raffles Girls Primary School, where was supposed to be the campus of the DVC camp i was going to. When I reached, me and my brother took our allocated seats in the canteen. I felt very awkward because I did not know anyone there. But by the time we went back to the classroom and introduced ourselves, I found out that many of them had the same feeling as me. After ice-breaking games, we went down for morning tea. After that, when we went back to class 15 minutes later we went through the Bicycle History and a Schematic Approach in it. After that, we did a mini rusting experiment and added things like nail, staple, copper wire etc. Then we went down for lunch. Should be fried rice, and it was delicious. While finishing the lunch, I went to play basketball with Tatie(holland guy), Luke and a few others. When lunch was over, we did Light and Sound - an experiment that we did on Johanna's bike, she brought it specially for us. After that wonderful and cool experiment, we went down for afternoon tea. When we came back from that, it was almost 5.pm, almost time to go home. But during that short period of time, we did a mini-sized water turbine. Water turbines generate eletricity when they spin. We used a plastic cup and poked holes all over. The top holes were for thread so that we could hold the thread and spin it. Unfortunately, I failed. Have I told you yet? I have a secret, my Art and Crafts is simply bad. But it wasn't too bad because before we could have finished it, it was time to go home.

Day 2, Robotics day.

When I reached RGPS today, I was wearing an exclusive DVC shirt - we were going to have a robotics lesson. When we went back to class, however, we played mathematical games. Mostly I got it wrong, but it was fun. We went for morning tea. When we finally went back to class, the robotics master was awaiting our arrival. At the start, we thought it was impossible. But as he came round to teach us, we could make the robot and even make it stop at a dark line! We had so much fun we did not want to go for lunch, but unfortunately, we couldn't. At lunch, I sat beside the two friend teachers and hear them crack jokes and when some students from A-9 came over to ask a question, Mr. Shafue gave them MCQ. I couldn't really remember, but i think it went like this : " I'll give you three choices. 1. Put it in your pocket. 2. Put it in my pocket 3. Throw it away. " I laughed instinctly at the joke until my ribs hurt. After lunch, we did some friction experiments, and how fun they were! Friction should be taught in Primary 4. Then we went down to tea. After tea, we made a skeleton model. Mine couldn't move, complete failure. Went home after that.

Day 3, Aerodynamics.

When I reached RGPS, I was already talking to a friend on the way. When we went back to the class after the announcement that a guy lost his phone, we went back to class to study AERODYNAMICS!! We each made a parachute and also a rotor. A rotor is a four-sided boomerang. After coming up for tea after the lesson about aerodynamics, we studied Simple machines, such as Levers, wheel and axels. We went down to lunch and we ate bee hoon. For dessert, we each got a banana. After lunch, We studied gears on a bicycle( Again Johanna brought it.) Then we drew gears and made a gear model. Silin and Johanna walked around helping us cut the gears on top of cardboard. I made one, and when Dr.Seet ( Camp organiser) stepped out of the classroom, I had won many things. After afternoon tea, we each went down to play for half a hour at the court.

Day four, Excursion day.

I woke up at the crack of dawn, wore the shirt ( AGAIN ) and set off for RGPS. We were going to Kent Ridge park!! When we reached RGPS, the bus was already waiting. We packed our tea in our bags and we set off. When we reached there, the three " teachers " debated on the road upon reaching a " fork " . Finally they decided on a canopy walk, a very high bridge that could see everything for miles. But there was a problem, and that was when we were walking, we were walking on wooden planks. Every few steps there would be a gap, and as I was afraid of heights, what could I do except look down? But when we reached the end (FINALLY) , the teachers looked at the map and was like saying ( Uh-oh ) . What was the bad news? We had to walk on the canopy walk again. I almost fainted at the news. Too bad, no way out except back there. So the journey started again, but i knew where was the gaps and avoided them. We went back to where we started and walked some more to a place where we were supposed to draw our map. I did a fictional one , about treasure. Then we took the bus back to RGPS to have lunch. After that, we dipped some sponge in tea, and dabbed it onto the map, to make it look ancient. After that, we had tea and played some games before we went home.

Day 5, Last and concert day.

At RGPS, we went back to class immediately, as time was short. We cut out and folded some shapes, and after that, we went for tea. After tea, we used the shapes we did just now to make a baby mobile. Not so sucessful, however, but was satisfying. Lunch came a little earlier, as halfway through lunch, we had to practise the concert. I was the narrator and Actor 1, which had almost the most to say. After practise, we did the cheer ( At end of post). Then we went back to class to find out the findings of the rusting experiment. We also did some preparation for the concert. When it was time, we went to the hall of RGPS, with many parents. When we had settled down, all the other classes voted us to start the concert. Unwillingly, we went up the stage to perform. The performance was mainly Actor 1, 2 and 3 talking about what Actor 3 did during the holidays. As we mentioned the experiments and what we made, fellow classmates came up stage to show the things we did. It was very fun. At the end, we picked up our letters, which made up to be : D-I-S-C-O-V-E-R-Y -- V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N -- CAMP! And then we did the cheer. Then S-2 came up and told us what happens in a biscuit factory. ( they went to one on day 4 ) And A-6 also did a similar skit to us, and A-9 made things out of newspaper such as a mask, armor, etc. At the end, A-6 won the best concert prize, and one of every class won best camper award. So happens that I got the B-5 award (YAY!!) and S-2 best class award. When we went home, I regretted not getting my teacher's number.

The cheer goes like this :

Hey people,
We are so fine,
We are so find we'll blow your mind
go B-5
Go, go go B-5!
Go, go go, B-5!!

PS: Words in cheer that are red are clapping words ( or letters. )
